Knee Arthroscopy
Knees are exposed to a variety of forces, from simple twisting in everyday life to impacts on a sporting field. As the knee joint is complex, it can be injured in many ways.
The knee can be readily access by arthroscopy surgery (key-hole), making it relatively quick and painless in amenable cases. This type of surgery is often a day procedure with a reasonably quick return to normal function.
We provide a variety of arthroscopic knee procedures which we are happy to discuss with you.
Knee Osteotomy (Realignment) Surgery
In young people, joint replacement surgery may not be the best option to treat painful diseases of the knees.
In those people that meet the criteria, surgery that cuts the bones around the knee joint and helps realign the forces across the knee may be the best option for their disease. It is less painful than knee replacement surgery, and can delay joint replacement for up to ten years.
We are happy to discuss rehabilitation for this type of surgery with you.
Knee Replacement Surgery
Knee replacement surgery is being increasingly performed in Australia and the rest of the world for painful conditions that affect knees, such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and traumatic injuries.
